Building Resilience and the Evolving Role of Preservation Technology

Lori Ferriss and Billie Faircloth with deliver a keynote at the APT-DVC annual symposium: Building Resilience and the Evolving Role of Preservation Technology.

Their talk will explore resilience as a built environment strategy and consider the critical role of existing and historic buildings in shaping more adaptive, durable, and climate-responsive communities. Drawing on BBL’s work on Decarbonizing the Built Environment Through Heritage, the session will examine how preservation practice already embodies resilience—from care and repair to material knowledge, adaptation, and understanding trade-offs and co-benefits—and how these approaches can help inform more resilient systems for the future.
